John Lyon Selected for Prestigious Engineering Experience Programme

Six pupils from Lower Sixth recently had the privilege of attending the Engineering Experience Programme (EPP) 2022-23 launch, hosted by Rutherford Appleton Laboratories (RAL)in Oxfordshire.  The launch was to mark the start of the Programme, for which John Lyon has been selected to take part in along with four other schools nationally.

To get a place on the Programme schools had to apply to the Science Technology and Facilities Council (STFC), and we are extremely honoured to have been chosen for this highly prestigious and popular initiative which affords pupils the opportunity to extend their learning across disciplines including physics, computing science and engineering.

Over the coming weeks our Lower Sixth Team of Caelum C (L6EMM), Basel R (L6SJA), Felix P (L6MEW), Leo G (L6REM), Marcus G (L6QAC) and Shyam K (L6RSK) will be working together to develop their proposals on their assigned project brief titled “Extra-terrestrial Habitat Development”.

What a wonderful opportunity this five month programme is for our pupils who will have the chance to apply their existing knowledge and skills, as well as extend their knowledge with mentoring from some of the best in the field.
