Inspirational author visit

We recently welcomed the awe-inspiring Betsy Griffin, nine-year-old published author of ‘Out of the Woods’, who spoke to all pupils in Reception to Year 6.

Betsy shared the story of her life following her diagnosis with an inoperable brain tumour which left her without her sight at the age of two and led us all in positive affirmation breathing and visualisation exercises. She also chatted to the pupils about her experience of becoming a published author, shared with them her braille book and how braille enables the partially sighted and blind to read books and enjoy illustrations.

Betsy’s enthusiasm, humour and infectious sense of fun brought light and laughter to the library and everyone simply adored meeting her.

We were thrilled that Mrs Michelle Beresford-Smart, school governor, was able to join us for this fantastic event and we all went home with an extra spring of positivity in our step and an extra drop of joy in our hearts after the time we were so fortunate to share with Betsy.
