CLUBS & SOCIETIES

Old Lyonians volunteer their time and manage a range of Clubs and Societies, especially for John Lyon’s alumni network. They provide an opportunity to socialise, help expand networking opportunities, share knowledge and also boost physical and mental health. Here are some clubs run by OLs for OLs.

Old Lyonian Football Club

Get in on the action with the Old Lyonian Football Club! Founded in 1902 by Lower School alumni, the club remains a proud member of the Southern Amateur Football League and the Amateur Football Alliance.

With four 11-a-side squads and a veterans team, the club is open to Old Lyonians, friends, and family members. Matches take place on Saturdays from September to April, on the Senior Pitches of John Lyon School’s Sudbury Fields, with away fixtures in different parts of London. The first team plays at a very high level, often coming up against ex-professional players, whilst the lower teams play a more social, but still competitive style of football. In the last few years, the OLFC has enjoyed much success winning both cups and promotions.

In addition, the Lyonian Pavilion offers excellent changing facilities and a well-stocked bar and games room, so you can relax after the game with post-match food considered the best in the league!

We are looking to increase the number of teams we have and welcome all School leavers to join and continue the success of the club. Ready to play? Contact Ian Dennison, Chair of the OLFC, Old Lyonian and Old Quaintonian, by emailing [email protected]

Old Lyonian Golf Society

Join the Old Lyonian Golf Society and get ready for a year full of events! You will have the opportunity to play at prestigious clubs and compete for various trophies. Matches take place against Old Haberdashers, Old Millhillians, and Old Canfordians in May, June, and July. Don’t miss the OLA Presidents Cup and the Head Boy Golf Challenge. Qualify for The Grafton Morrish and represent the Society on a national stage.

If you have an interest in golf, please contact John Davies (OL), Chair of the Golf Society, by emailing [email protected]. Grab your clubs and let’s tee off together for an unforgettable golfing season!

There are many more societies that you can become part of including Law and Dentistry. If there is an area that is not included contact [email protected] about how we can set-up a new one.
