John Lyon cricketers enjoy dominant England performance in North West London

The School Cricket season may be over but that didn’t stop an eager group John Lyon cricketers heading to the Home of Cricket to see the world’s very best players perform.

Despite the rain doing its best to stop any play taking place in the second Test match between England and India at Lord’s on Friday 10th August, the small group from John Lyon were able to see a world-class display of fast bowling by the England players, who quickly tore through the Indian batsmen.

But while there wasn’t a lot of cricket to watch, the rain interruptions did mean the boys ran into one famous face, as Head of Cricket Adam Ling describes: “We managed to watch just three overs before the rain came, but that did mean a few of the boys were able to get into the MCC indoor centre, where they were able to see England spin bowler Moeen Ali train. There was even the opportunity for a photograph with Moeen. Another great part of the day was to see so many of our boys, of different ages, getting together to debate the strengths and weaknesses of the England and India teams.

“It’s now quite a long wait for the next School Cricket season to get started but we are sure this trip to Lord’s will provide inspiration to our John Lyon cricketers as they continue to train and think about Cricket through the 0ff-season.
