VEX Robotics Success at the National Championships
A Place at the World Championship
Congratulations to our BlockBots robotics team of Year 9 pupils Aarush, Arhaant and Aarwick who have secured a place at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2026 in St. Louis, Missouri this April. Their qualification follows a strong performance at the National Championship, where they competed against leading school teams from across the country.
Strong Performances from Both John Lyon Teams
John Lyon had two teams competing, and both represented the School impressively throughout the competition, demonstrating strong technical skill, teamwork and resilience. Our second team of Rian, Tina, Amit, Anika and Xavier delivered a series of strong performances and finished just behind the teams who qualified for the World Championships.
An Appearance from the School Mascot
Xavier’s appearance as the team mascot left a memorable impression at the event and helped bring plenty of energy and team spirit to the competition. His team was awarded the Best Energy Award, recognising their enthusiasm and the supportive atmosphere they created throughout.
A Proud Moment for the School
Both teams should be very proud of what they have achieved. Throughout the event, they demonstrated many of the valuable qualities that VEX encourages in students, including teamwork, resilience and problem-solving and we congratulate them on their outstanding effort and achievements at this national event.
