Graduate Assistant

Required from January 2024

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and intelligent university graduate with a ‘can do’ attitude to assist with a range of duties and activities across the School including assisting teachers in classes, games sessions, exam invigilation, school trips and other duties in-line with the post-holder’s skills and experience such as supporting the School’s Music, CCF, Art, Sport, STEAM, Library or Drama initiatives. This is an exciting time to join John Lyon which, having educated boys from Harrow and surrounding areas since 1876, welcomed its first girls as pupils in September 2021. The School has also moved from being a senior school to an all through 3-18 school, following an amalgamation with Quainton Hall Prep School in 2021.

This position is an excellent stepping stone towards a teaching career. Applicants seeking to deliver a small amount of classroom teaching will be considered. The successful candidate will need strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to liaise with a wide range of other staff across the school, given the diverse nature of the role. They will also need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and have a willingness to work flexibly with both duties and hours to meet the requirements of the School. Salary: c£ SCP 31 on the School’s salary scale, pro-rata for your weeks worked to £18,749 p.a. (full-time equivalent £22,887) p.a., depending on skills and experience

This is a term-time + 3 weeks position (37 weeks p.a at 35 hours/week)
