Art Excellence Competition – ‘The Art of Making Money’

As part of the Art Excellence competition this term, pupils were tasked to produce a piece of artwork of their choosing and subsequently devise a business strategy to monetize it. The task was based on the information provided during the JLx talk, ‘The Art of Making Money’.

The Art department then created a shortlist of entries and invited the chosen pupils to pitch their idea in front of a panel of judges. Each of their entries were fantastic and there was both a broad range of mediums used, as well as several unique approaches to generating a profit from them.

The winning entry selected was Oliver (11NJB) for his piece inspired by retro pixel art, drawn on Adobe Photoshop and marketed as a limited edition of NFT’s.

Yosr (8JLLK) was selected as runner up for her stunning oil pastel artwork and detailed plans for an art auction to generate revenue.

Thank you to all those who entered, particularly the pupils that were shortlisted, Kai (7RAR), Yosr (8JLK), Ons (9GEH), Kian (11NJB), Oliver (11NJB) and Klara (L6SCA).
