Year 11 pupils tackle the Peak District for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expedition

Last week, a group of intrepid John Lyon pupils boldly ventured into the rugged terrain of the Peak District to tackle their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expedition. Despite facing some seriously gloomy and glum weather, they rose to the challenge with spirits as high as the peaks they were climbing. Their astounding teamwork and can-do attitude were an inspiration to all who saw them in action. With such remarkable progress already made, the group is sure to excel in their upcoming qualifying expedition to Bannau Brycheiniog (formerly known as the Brecon Beacons) in June.

These young adventurers are definitely on their way to earning some seriously impressive badges!

“I really enjoyed the DofE experience. From this I was rewarded with amazing views and a sense of accomplishment I did not get from anything else. Make sure you are prepared, because it is not something easy and not something you should decide upon without proper conviction. I wish you the best with your expeditions in the future. P.S. it is important to have good equipment for sleeping, it makes a great difference.” Ismael (L6REM)
