Stepping into the Rainforest at Kew Gardens

Year 5 went on an exciting trip to Kew Gardens recently to learn more about the Rainforest, which they have been studying in Geography.

Pupils enjoyed the visit as they explored the sights and smells of plants in the rainforest and investigated the importance of the various rainforest products and artefacts in the Garden’s Historic Palm House and Education Centre.

Alongside the learning pupils had the opportunity to visit the newly opened Children’s Garden.  There were some amazing activities on offer in the garden, including climbing apparatus and a water pump, which was a firm favourite!

The day ended with a visit inside the Hive, where the pupils saw one thousand LED lights glow in tandem with the vibrations of the bees that inhabited the garden. This was a really special experience for everyone and a great way to end what was a valuable practical learning opportunity.
