Speech Day - July 2010

The photos below show Speech Day 2010, the culmination of the School year at The John Lyon School, which is held in Harrow School's Speech Room. In addition to the awarding of prizes, there were speeches from: the Chairman of Governors, Mr John Hayes; the Head, Miss Katherine Haynes; the Guest of Honour, Mr John Dunston, as well as a vote of thanks from Freddie Herman, the outgoing Head of School. Mr Dunston, Head of Leighton Park School in Reading, is both a JLS Governor and an Old Lyonian.

The proceedings also featured a musical interlude; a performance of Charles Wesley's hymn And Can It Be? with music by Bob Kauflin, arranged by JLS Head of Music, Miss Anna Wilby. This was sung by the Male Voice Choir, with Stephen Bennett playing the flute.

After a lunch for prizewinners and their families in the Red House garden, attention switched to the traditional Association Day cricket matches involving Old Lyonians.
