The John Lyon Schools Old Boys gather at Lords
Former pupils of The John Lyon School enjoyed a rare treat at Lord’s cricket ground. They were guests at the School’s first Business Breakfast, organised by Brenda Allanson, Director of Development at the independent school.

The event was held in the ground’s iconic Investec Media Centre with former England cricketer Angus (‘Gus’) Fraser (pictured), a School Governor and parent of a current pupil, as guest speaker. Gus gave a fascinating and entertaining insight into his career at Lord’s , both as a player and, currently, as Managing Director of Cricket for Middlesex County Cricket Club, based at the ground. Guests sat in the Press box, with its amazing views of the pitch, to listen to Gus and were able to visit the BBC’s Test Match Special box. The event was followed by a tour of Lord’s.

John Hayes, Chairman of Governors, said: “We were delighted to welcome former pupils, whose age range spanned over 40 years, to Lord’s. The School has a network of alumni who have been successful in all walks of life, and we are exploring ways in which they can help and inspire our current pupils. The event gave our guests the opportunity to catch up with each other, meet some of our Governors and hear about the School’s exciting development plans.

Lord’s was an appropriate venue for this inaugural breakfast: the School has a strong tradition of cricketing excellence. Last year, its Under 15s won the Middlesex Cup and its Under 12A squad were runners-up in their age group.
