STOP PRESS: Vintage year for JLS Athletes

Fourteen-year-old Luke Roach-Christie is National Shot Putt Champion in his age group. At the National Schools’ Championships he threw a distance of 14.90m. Anthony Jeffrey, also 14, came 3rd in the Junior Boys 100m sprint, with a John Lyon School record time of 11.42 seconds. Sonny Flynn made the final of the 400m and finished 8th, while 14-year-old Babatundae Abelekan, despite trapping a nerve in his heat of the 200m still achieved fifth place in that race. PE teacher Adam Jones said “Our boys were outstanding. As a School JLS performed better than many of the entire County squads that competed.”
