Leading the way for the schools on the Hill

The John Lyon School has invested in a powerful internet link for its boys and staff – and now its famous neighbour, Harrow School, is following in its footsteps.

The two independent schools both belong to the Harrow Foundation, together with Harrow International Schools in Bangkok and Beijing.

The John Lyon School first had a 100MB link installed by specialists NetworkFlow to give it a much faster and more reliable internet connection. After testing the connection successfully for several months, the day school has introduced NetworkFlow to Harrow School. Harrow will use its 100MB connection to develop communications with boarders’ parents around the world – including the opportunity for them to listen to their sons perform in music concerts.

Kevin Riley, Headmaster of The John Lyon School, said: “Good IT is now essential for any school, both to keep the administration running smoothly and for its multiple uses in the classroom. A high-capacity, reliable internet link is an essential element of this, so we took the decision to invest £30,000 in this connection. We are pleased that Harrow School have now followed our lead. Over the past few years, the links between the two schools have been growing ever stronger and the co-operation in IT is particularly strong.”
