The successful U13 basketball team
The John Lyon School has had an excellent sporting start to the year, with wins in two inter-school competitions.

The U13s basketball team at the independent boys’ school in Harrow won the recent tournament at Orley Farm Preparatory School, also in Harrow, and the badminton team came first in the Year 11 Borough of Harrow badminton finals.

Twelve teams took part in the Orley Farm basketball. The John Lyon School (JLS) team won all three of their matches in the group stages before beating Westminster School in the semi-final and then defeating Belmont School, Mill Hill, 10-0 in the final.

“The boys played exceptionally well; they took a little time to adapt to a full size court but their quick passing game proved too much for the opposition” said Director of Sport Spencer Leach. “JLS is rightly known for achievement in football and cricket, but I’m pleased to say that increasingly we are enjoying success in other sports too.”

And in the borough badminton finals, the JLS Year 11 squad overcame all their opponents, including Harrow High, Park and Nower Hill, finishing first in the round-robin style event.
