The John Lyon School’s ten-year development plan, or ‘estates strategy’, will give JLS the best possible facilities to provide a modern education and to achieve excellence in music, art, the performing arts and sport. In 2007, the estates strategy secured £4.4m of financial support from the Governors, enabling work to begin. Specific priorities of the estates strategy are:
The first major project has been the construction of a three-storey rear extension to the existing science block, including a lift. This has enabled the creation of a bank of generic classrooms in the centre of the School for use by any department. This new building was open for the start of the Autumn Term 2008. Below are a selection of pictures from the opening ceremony of the new Science and Drama building. To view an image at full size please click on it and follow the instructions.
Work began on the new science block during the spring of 2008. For information on this please click here to view our press release.
