The John Lyon School is an academically selective school. In September 2011, we expect to award 60 places at 11+ and 40 places at 13+. Applications may be considered for other years if places are available.

We base our decisions on entrance to the School upon reports from the boy’s present or previous school, interviews and entrance examinations. We take special note of potential and achievement in music and the creative and performing arts.

Visiting the School

Our main annual Open Day takes place during the Autumn Term. In addition, during term-time throughout the year, we host forums to offer small groups of parents the opportunity to tour the School and speak to the Head or Head of Oldfield (our First Year) and Lower School. While it is not necessary to let us know beforehand if you are planning to come to the Open Day, places for the forums must be booked in advance.
