During the Summer half term break 26 boys in Years 9 and 10 accompanied by three members of the Spanish Department spent a week in Valencia. The boys attended language lessons in the mornings and took part in activities in the afternoon. These included a football tournament on the beach, a town trail where they sampled ‘horchata’ a local drink made from tiger nuts. They also visited the excellent Valencia City of Arts and Science where they spent time in both the museum and the Sea Life park. A highlight was the paella sampling, another Valencian speciality. The boys all stayed with Spanish families and so had ample opportunity to practise their language skills. The fact that it was sunny and reached temperatures of over 30 degrees every day was just an added bonus!
